Stainless is only as good as the weld and the finish behind it. Our handrail work is TIG welded with matched filler, ground back through progressive grits and re-polished at the joint, so a corner reads as one continuous tube rather than two pieces stuck together.
Grade selection is driven by where the rail actually sits. Anything within reach of salt air, chlorinated water or wash-down cleaning is specified in SS316 and passivated after fabrication — the single biggest factor in whether a rail still looks new in five years.

Inland and internal work is fine in SS304. Anything within reach of coastal air, pool chemistry or constant wash-down should be marine-grade SS316 - the extra molybdenum is what stops the tea staining you see on under-specified rails along the seafront.
